Lehigh Valley Zoo loves volunteers!
Opportunities abound for individuals and groups!

If you love animals or the outdoors, the Lehigh Valley Zoo offers the perfect opportunity for you to become involved. We need volunteers to help with special events, educational programs, greet visitors, dress up as Wooly Bully, and much more!

If you are interested in volunteering, please print the application, fill it out, and mail or fax to the Lehigh Valley Zoo. If you have any questions, please contact Shannan Sennetti, Development Coordinator at 610-799-4171, ext. 224.

All volunteers at the Lehigh Valley Zoo must be at least sixteen years of age.

Educational Opportunities

Zoo Camp Assistant - Assist our educational staff with the daily camp activities. Many age level camps are available and a commitment to an entire week is ideal, but not necessary. Hours usually range between 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. Some training is required.

Docent - Volunteers are provided with special training to share information about our animals, answer questions about the daily schedule, and give directions to our visitors. Stationed at certain exhibits, these volunteers play an important security role as well. Several hours of training are required.

General Volunteer Opportunities

Wooly Bully - Volunteers portray our lovable bison mascot and entertain visitors throughout the facility and off site. Must be in good physical condition and withstand warm temperatures. Several hours of training are required.

Special Event Assistant - Assist our development staff with various needs for specific events. Opportunities include helping with a craft or raffle or assisting with event logistics.

Gardeners and Horticulture Assistant - Volunteers help our grounds staff by preparing, planting, weeding, mulching and watering the various flowerbeds around our facility. Great opportunity for families with children too young for other opportunities or anyone who needs flexible hours.

Development Assistant- Volunteers assist our office staff with data entry, typing, answering phones, and preparing mailings. Knowledge of Microsoft software is helpful, but not necessary. Some training is required.

Nature Store Assistant - Volunteers can help our Nature Store staff by greeting and waiting on customers, bagging purchases, straightening and stocking shelves.

Zoo Clean Team - Our guests appreciate the cleanliness of our facility and volunteers help make this happen! Early morning and late day clean-up times are available. The Lehigh Valley Zoo furnishes all equipment. Help us protect our environment!
