The prime directive of Lehigh Valley Zoo’s mission is conservation. We are dedicated to saving species from extinction and preserving their habitats. In addition to working with Species Survival Plan programs by providing space for or breeding species of concern and compiling and maintaining studbooks for these programs, Lehigh Valley Zoo participates in conservation outside the Zoo. Lehigh Valley Zoo staff have participated in field work with Eastern massasauga rattlesnakes, Pennsylvania bats and have contributed to turtle conservation.
