Summer Camps

Lehigh Valley Zoo invites campers for an exciting week of nature discovery, animal adventures and Smart FUN!  Week-long camps run from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. for ages 4-5 and 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. for ages 6-14.
Summer camps include animal encounters, keeper talks, educational presentations, games, and nature crafts.  All campers receive a snack, camp t-shirt and certificate of participation.  For full day camps, campers need to provide their own lunch.

Extended Care options may be available, please contact the education department.

Extended care is available
Extended care fee: $10 per person/hour/day.
(morning drop off 8 - 9am; aftercare available until 5:30pm)

Price: $175.00 (Zoo members save $25.00)

Fur, Feathers, and Scales   
July 13 through 17, 2015
9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Which animals have fur, feathers or scales?  Learn the difference between different animal coverings and have the chance to touch several types of fur, feathers, and scales!  Campers will see animal presentations, participate in crafts, and enjoy tours around the Zoo.

Colors and Camouflage                  
August 10 through 14, 2015
9:00 am to 12:00 pm

Can you hide without anyone seeing you?  Learn how animals use their colors and patterns to camouflage from predators and other animals!  Get a chance to explore the Jordan creek, take a Zoo tour, and see several animal presentations.  You might even be able to enjoy a game of hide and seek!

Safari Camp
 (Ages 6-10 years old)

Sense-able Species 
June 22 through 26, 2015
9:00 am to 3:00 pm
How do you know where to find your food?  In this camp you’ll learn about many different senses animals use to hunt, hide, and survive.  During Zoo tours, interactive exhibits, animal presentations, hikes, crafts, and games you can see what senses you have in common with animals!

Art Safari - Back by popular demand!      
July 6 through 10, 2015
9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Explore nature and art at the Zoo! Learn how to sketch, paint, and sculpt your favorite Zoo animals.  Campers will also enjoy animal presentations, interactive games, keeper talks, and a nature hikes to the Jordan Creek.

Superman-imals                   
July 27 through July 31, 2015
9:00 am to 3:00 pm
Can you think of any superhero qualities about nature?  In this exciting camp, campers will learn about unique characteristics of different plants and animals in nature.  Enjoy keeper talks, nature hikes and creek studies in this super camp.  You’ll even have the chance to make up your own superhero animal!


(Ages 11-14 years old)
Price: $280.00 (Zoo members save $25.00)

Time:  9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. 
(Camp runs 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 9:00 a.m. – overnight on Thursday, camp ends noon on Friday.)      

Zoo-Dun-It Detectives
July 20 through 24, 2015
9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday
*Campers sleep overnight at the Zoo on July 23.  Camp ends on July 24 at 12:00 pm.
Can you solve the animal mysteries?  Every day campers will have to pay attention to different activities and animal presentations to figure out Zoo mysteries!  Enjoy scavenger hunts through the Zoo, preserve, and Jordan creek.

Animal Grossology and Creepy Crawlies
August 3 through August 8, 2015              
9:00 am to 3:00 pm Monday through Thursday
*Campers sleep overnight at the Zoo on August 6.  Camp ends on August 7 at 12:00 pm.

Some animals smell, some eat gross things, and some animals are just creepy.  This camp is about all things gross and creepy.  Have the chance to dissect an owl pellet or touch a cockroach during this camp!  Later in the night campers can enjoy owl calling and other creepy night noises.
