Hop Into Spring

March 23 & 24, 2019

SPRING IS FINALLY HERE! Did you know that the Spring Equinox will take place on March 20^th? Hop, jump, or leap your way down to the Lehigh Valley Zoo! On Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th we will be celebrating our annual Hop into Spring event!

We will be featuring a 12:30PM Keeper Chat both days focused on the always-hopping kangaroos as well as guided tours inside the Kangaroo Walkabout Exhibit! There will be an exciting line up of games, crafts, and activities sure to put a SPRING in your step! Be sure to check out our other interactive exhibits while you’re here for a chance to feed and brush our goats or visit the inhabitants of the Reptile and Amphibian Discovery Center!

Corks & Canvas

March 26, 2019

Our next Corks and Canvas painting party returns Tuesday, March 26 at Raymour & Flanigan in Whitehall, PA!

Bring your friends, family members, and your favorite wine for a fun night out making art! Whether you’re a contemporary Rembrandt or have never held a paintbrush, you’ll be sure to create a unique piece of art to call your own. Enjoy a night out at the Zoo, sipping wine while creating your very own masterpiece!

Seafood Watch Celebration

Did you know that March is Dolphin Awareness Month? While the Lehigh Valley Zoo doesn’t have dolphins, we do have plenty of aquatic species and because of this we find it extremely important to educate our guests about responsible consumption of seafood. The Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch® developed a program that we use on-site which helps consumers choose seafood that’s fished or farmed in ways that support a healthy ocean. They even provide recommendations about which seafood items are “Best Choices” or “Good Alternatives”, and which ones you should Avoid.

Join us here at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Saturday, March 30 to learn more about the Seafood Watch Program and how you can help keep our oceans healthy!

World Forest Day

March 31, 2019
Did you know that March 21 is World Forest Day? Over 30% of the Earth’s surface is deemed “forest land” yet that is where a vast majority of wildlife lives!

Join us here at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Sunday, March 31 to celebrate with a wide variety of interactive experiences, conservation activities and crafts, and close up looks at animals that call a forest their home! While you’re here be sure to stop by our interactive exhibits for a chance to feed and brush our goats, take a tour inside the kangaroo walkabout exhibit, or even hand feed a lorikeet!

Storytime with an Educator

April 6, 2019
Join us at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Saturday, April 6 from 10:30AM-11:30AM for a story time unlike any other!

One of our friendly and knowledgeable Conservation Educators will be on-site to lead the reading. After the story is finished, there will be time for participants to ask any questions they have for our educators! All guests will have then have the opportunity to get an up-close look at one of the Zoo’s resident ambassador animals! Pack your listening ears and get ready for an amazing encounter!

Zoo Lovers Day

April 8, 2019
Did you know that April 8 is National Zoo Lover’s Day!? Join us here at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Sunday, April 7 to celebrate National Zoo Lovers Day a day early with our friendly and knowledgeable staff!

We have a great line up of hands-on activities, discounted crafts, and interactive keeper talks! Make sure you get tickets to participate in our Giraffe Feeding Experience atop the Kiannala Feeding Deck and don’t forget to stop by our Kangaroo Walkabout for an inside tour of the Kangaroo Exhibit! Stop by our additional interactive exhibits including Lorikeet Landing and the Goat Barn for more ways to celebrate your love for the Zoo!

Nature Play Weekend

April 13 & 14, 2019
Did you know that the Lehigh Valley Zoo has its very own Nature Play area called “Preston’s Pad”? Nature play encourages environmental exploration through digging holes, hands-on play, and exploring natural water sources.

Bring your kids to Preston’s Pad on Saturday, April 13 and Sunday, April 14 to join in on our various Nature Play activities including: Rock painting, making Toad Abodes, and exchanging items found in nature at our Swap Shop! Nature Play has been shown to benefit physical health and augment cognitive, social, and emotional development by providing an opportunity to develop creativity and resourcefulness. Experiences with nature as a child can often lead to environmental stewardship, later in life.

Don’t forget to say “hello” to famous fairy, Tinkerbell (courtesy of Joanna Bertalan of Professional Singing Princess) Tinkerbell will be visiting the zoo this weekend on both Saturday and Sunday from 10AM – 12PM for a Meet & Greet and photos with the guests!

Sloth Meet & Greet Day

April 18, 2019
Join us here at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Thursday, April 18 for an experience you won’t forget! From 10:30AM-11:30AM our resident sloth, Bean will be on exhibit for a guest meet and greet!

This slow-mover is a crowd favorite so be sure to come say hello! Remember your cameras so you can snap a photo. Our knowledgeable Conservation Educators will be on-site as well to answer any questions you have about Bean!

Easter Weekend

April 20 & 21, 2019
Hop on down to the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Saturday, April 20 and Sunday, April 21 to celebrate Easter with us! This year, our Egg-cellent Easter festivities are back and better than ever!

See if you can complete our scavenger hunt by finding all of the wooden egg cutouts hidden around the zoo. We will also be featuring a fun twist on the classic egg hunt for the little ones!

There will be family friendly arts and crafts, interactive activities, and DJ’d music by DJ Ray of Fling-a-things from 12PM-2PM each day!  From 10:30AM-11:30AM each day, our Conservation Educators will be mingling throughout the zoo with a few of our Ambassador Animals!  Be sure to keep an eye out for special appearances by the Easter Bunny!

Party for the Planet

April 22, 2019
It’s a party…for the planet!

Join us here at the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Monday, April 22 to celebrate Earth Day! We will be featuring many hands-on activities and experiences that convey the importance of preserving the planet.

We encourage each guest to bring one piece of clean, recyclable plastic to be added to our Plastics Python, a visual representation of plastics that would otherwise end up in our water sources.

From 10:30AM-11:30AM we will be featuring one of our African Penguins for a special guest meet and greet! These African natives are a crowd favorite so be sure to come say hello! Remember your cameras so you can snap a photo.

Arbor Day

April 27, 2019
The Lehigh Valley Zoo, in conjunction with the Parkland Garden Club will participate in its annual tree planting event this Saturday, April 27.

“Wood” you believe that one large tree can provide a day’s supply of oxygen for up to four people? It’s true! Our hopes in planting these trees annually is to establish a community tradition that will benefit the planet for years to come!

World Penguin Day

April 28, 2019
Did you know that there are currently 18 different species of penguin discovered around the world? Stop by the Lehigh Valley Zoo on Sunday, April 28 to get a head start on the celebration of World Penguin Day!

We’ll be featuring two opportunities to observe our penguin feedings while offering a chance to interact with our knowledgeable keepers and ask penguin related questions! From 10:30AM-11:30AM we will be featuring one of our African Penguins at a special guest meet and greet! These African natives are a crowd favorite so be sure to come say hello!
