The prime directive of Lehigh Valley Zoo’s mission is conservation. We are dedicated to saving species from extinction and preserving their habitats. In addition to working with Species Survival Plan programs by providing space for or breeding species of concern and compiling and maintaining studbooks for these programs, Lehigh Valley Zoo participates in conservation outside the Zoo.
Although we strive to provide the best for the animals in our charge, we must be working to assure suitable habitat and conditions exist for the species and ecosystems they represent in the wild. Watch this page and Lehigh Valley Zoo’s social media to find out what we are doing nationally and internationally to save species from extinction.
